Hi Friends,

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know I’ve been on a “hand break” for the last couple weeks.

You may have noticed this pattern with my content since I came back to YouTube back in April: a bunch of videos over 2 or 3 weeks, then a week or two away. It’s a cycle I’ve found myself in. When the symptoms of my repetitive strain injuries (RSI) improve and nearly disappear, I get excited and start making a bunch of videos. During the editing phase I tend to over-work. Then slowly over 2 or 3 weeks my RSI symptoms come back. Then I’m forced to rest my arms. No computer, no tablet, no texting, no chopping vegetables, no kneading dough. Basically nothing fun for a week or two. Then the symptoms start to improve again and the cycle continues.

This last cycle, I’ve realized I have to do better. If I continue like this, I’ll never recover completely. I really would prefer life with the full use of my arms. So even though this is the worst time of the year to step away from YouTube and other content creation for Mary’s Test Kitchen, it’s what I need to do for my health.

I’ll be taking another long break. I still have a few unedited videos on my hard drive so you’ll see new videos here or there but I’m not planning on shooting any more for quite some time. There’s also a partly-written e-cookbook sitting on my hard drive that I’ll be slowly working on but I can’t say when it will be done.

So that’s it. This isn’t really good bye. You’ll see me on Twitter, right? <3

Love,
Mary
