I’ve been making my own soaps and skin care products for a number of years, but lately I haven’t really had the urge to create new things. However, my parents are going overseas and asked me to make some gifts to take with them. This was the perfect opportunity to use up some supplies that have been sitting in my kitchen for a while.
I love using lavender essential oil because it smells amazing, is safe for most skin types, and has healing properties. Peppermint is ideal for scrubs as it stimulates circulation and is a great pick-me-up.
I used a foaming base mixed with olive oil and shea butter for hydrating dry skin. Fine granulated sugar is great for gentle exfoliation. To do this at home, you can take a cup of sugar, saturate it with oil, and mix in a few drops of your favourite essential oils. To use, apply it to lightly dampened skin and rub gently in a circular motion until the sugar dissolves, then rinse away. So easy and so good for your skin.
